Pinoy Big Brother Teen Big Winner James Reid is not after fame and money

Filipino-Australian James Reid became the very first global housemate to become a Big Winner when he got the most number of text votes during the finals of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash of 2010 last June 26. In a press conference, James told reporters that he auditioned for PBB so he can experience new things. “Before I came in the house, I was doing home study so I never had the opportunity to make friends that much. PBB was a great opportunity for me to meet new people and make friends. I didn’t expect I would reach this far and become a Big Winner.”

James’s Australian father had been visiting the Philippines frequently to do business, operating dance clubs. The 17-year old shared that he would often come to the country for vacation. Since he’s from a well-off family, James said he never joined PBB just for the prize. “I don’t really need it. The one million was too much for me to take. There are other people in the house who need it more. That was I didn’t vote for myself to be the Big Winner. But in the end I realized it was not about the money anymore. It was about who has the best character.”

That was why when Big Brother would ask him if he thinks he will become the Big Winner, James would express his doubts. It was only in the last couple of weeks of PBB when he finally realized that he also deserves to win. “When I was in the Big Six, Big Brother explained to me that I have to believe in myself because people are believing in me. In the end, we were all given the chance to show that we are all deserving to be a Big Winner.”

James gave a message to those criticizing his victory, saying a foreigner like him has no right to win a Pinoy competition. “I believe that I deserve the title. Just like them I also worked hard to be here. I earned the title and people voted for me.”

The young lad easily won the hearts of PBB viewers, primarily the girls, because of his good looks. James thinks Filipinas are really into mestizo looks. “In Australia I’m quite average [looking]. I don’t really stand out. But here people seem to stare at me.”

Gifted with good looks, he admitted he is also open to giving showbiz in the Philippines a try, although that was also not his goal when he auditioned for PBB. “I’ll be staying here in the Philippines for a while, maybe for a year, to just see where this experience will take me. It was in PBB where I first sang and performed.” James knows how to play and guitar and sings quite well, but explained he grew up being very shy about showing his talents.

James has had only two girlfriends, one of whom was a half-Filipina. He revealed the quality he loves the most about Pinays. “I love dark-skinned Filipinas. In Australia, almost everyone goes to the beach just to get a good tan.”

Kim Chiu is not yet ready to do kissing scenes with other young actors

Some people were wondering why Kim Chiu didn’t have any intimate scenes with Carlo Aquino in their Maalaala Mo Kaya episode where they played a young married couple a few weeks ago. Apparently, she’s not yet ready to be daring when paired with leading men other than Gerald Anderson. “Nung nabasa ko yung script, nagulat lang kasi ako na may intimate kiss e hindi pa ako handa.Charing! Kami kasi ni Gerald sobrang friends na kami, e kami ni Carlo kakakilala lang namin, nahiya naman ako. Pwede naman gawan ng paraan. Kumbaga, kiss lang sa noo buntis na, parang yung kay Ate Kris (Aquino) sa Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo,” she cheerfully explained.

But speaking of experimental love teams, Kim recently met Aljur Abrenica who happens to be one of the stars from ABS-CBN’s rival network. The young actor was reportedly very eager to get to know Kim at the time. When asked if she would be willing to work with Aljur, she said that she has no problem doing a future collaboration but only if ABS-CBN approves of it first. “Trabaho din naman yun. Siyempre kung anong meron, kung maganda ang project, why not?”

She didn’t even make a big deal out of the fact that he admires her critically-acclaimed body of work as well. “Siyempre lahat naman ng artista pinapanood ang isa’t isa. Wala naman sa amin yung rivalry rivalry na ‘yan; siguro sa istwasyon, pero kami ginagawa lang namin ang trabaho namin,” she added.

John Prats to John Lloyd Cruz: 'Alagaan niya si Shaina'

After John Lloyd Cruz’s revelation about his relationship with Shaina Magdayao on last week’s The Buzz, it was John Prats’ turn to a tell-all interview with Boy Abunda on the talk show yesterday. John revealed that he was informed about Lloydy’s exclusive interview on The Buzz while he was doing a show on Los Angeles, California, USA.

When Boy asked him about his initial reaction when he learned about this, John replied, “Wala akong naging reaction. Hindi ako na-hurt, hindi ako nalungkot, parang wala lang sa akin,” he said and added that he does not expect everyone to believe him. But John revealed his reasons why this is so. “’Pag nagmahal ka all-out, lahat ibibigay mo, that’s why siguro nandirito rin ako ngayon kasi wala akong regrets. Lahat binigay ko, lahat ginawa ko.”

Though rumors about his break-up with Shaina have circulated late last year, the former couple kept silent about it. John told Boy that he and Shaina broke up on the last week of November last year. “We had a fight and then nag-start lang naman kaming cool off ganyan, but we never saw each other after that,” he said. Among his past relationships, John said that his relationship with Shaina was the longest, which lasted for almost three years. He also thought that she was the woman he was going to marry.

John also confirmed John Lloyd’s previous statement that they both talked over the phone and clarified to him that he did not enter a relationship with Shaina while she and John were still together. John also pleaded to Boy not to focus anymore about the hurtful incidences during the break up regardless whether it’s true or false because nothing will change the fact that they have split up and that he and Shaina have moved on. “Gusto ko talaga move on lang tayo happy na tayo. Whatever they say hindi na mababalik (‘yung relasyon),” he said. He also clarified that he has no ill feelings now towards Shaina’s new boyfriend although there was a point when he did.  When asked about his message to John Lloyd, John replied, “Alagaan niya si Shaina at alam ko naman aalagaan niya.”

He admitted that he had a difficult time dealing with the break up. “Mahirap kasi when you wake up in the morning and wala kang tinatawagan to say good morning to and I love you. Bago ka matulog siya. ‘Yun ang mahirap, ‘yung adjustment period,” John shared.  He did not deny the fact that he still misses Shaina and her family, whom he has become close with.

On a last note, John said that he is very much single now and that it is just now that he is fully enjoying the single life.

Jericho Rosales wants to work with KC Concepcion again

The success of I'll Be There is one of the things Jericho Rosales is thankful for right now. He said that to have worked with KC Concepcion and Gabby Concepcion is such a privilege and the movie's success is merely a bonus. He is appreciative of the people's unwavering support for the cast and Star Cinema and for every ABS-CBN project. "Yes, super successful yung I'll Be There. Sana makapanood pa kayo. I am happy for the team siyempre, for Star Cinema kasi maganda yung mga reviews sa pelikula. Thank you talaga."

Many of his fans and supporters have noted his onscreen chemistry with KC. Some even made comments that he is more suitable as KC's leading man than the latter's rumored boyfriend, Piolo Pascual. "Nakita ko nga rin yung [pagtanggap sa amin ng tao] nung premiere night na nagsigawan yung mga tao for us. Actually, simula pa lang ng mga eksena [at shoot] namin, nagbi-build up pa lang yung story, they (cast and crew) said na okay kami [ni KC together]. I didn't expect that." He appreciates those remarks but said that there is no competition between him and his friend Piolo. "I can say naman na gusto ko uli makatrabaho si KC, but I can't say anything about her and Piolo, they have their own special chemistry. Basta ako kapag may nakita akong possibility na pwede kaming magtrabaho uli for a different project na mas makapal yung anggulo ng (love story) or kung ano man io-offer sa amin, I can easily work with KC because meron kaming connection. Plus we are good friends."

Meanwhile, Jericho has several projects lined up this year. He has a soap with Anne Curtis which is already in the works. "I have a soap with Anne Curtis, kasama ko si Jake Cuenca at si Alessandra de Rossi. Nagta-taping na kami. It's more than a love triangle, hindi ganun yung anggulo ng storya iba. Medyo action-drama yung genre. May offer din ako na gumawa ng pelikula with a leading lady na hindi ko pa nakakatrabaho.”

Kris Aquino bids farewell to The Buzz

It was an emotional Sunday on The Buzz since it was Kris Aquino’s last day as a host of the show. Kris gave up all her showbiz talk-shows—The Buzz and SNN —to protect her brother, President-elect Noynoy Aquino from possible criticisms in the future because of her statements on the said programs. “I just don’t want to be a burden. I didn’t want na stuff I could say here could have negative effect on my brother and I didn’t feel na my personal life or personal views should have an effect on him,” she explained. “Ten years, Antagal pala. Andami palang nangyari talaga,” realized a tearful Kris. “Malaki na rin siguro ang nabago sa buhay ko, malaki ang nabago sa pananaw and malaki ang nabago sa core (ko) kasi tumibay.

Though ready to take on the challenge and responsibilities as the presidential sister, Kris did not hide the fact that she has fears with her new endeavor. “Natatakot ako kasi eto ‘yung alam ko talagang gawin at alam ko na magaling ako sa ginagawa kong ‘to. Paano kung ‘yung next na project na ibibigay nila sa akin, paano kung hindi na ako kasing galing no’n,” she explained.

Kris also expressed her gratitude to all those who supported her and to ABS-CBN, who made her the celebrity she is today. “For any television personality you gave me the greatest gift, you gave me your time, you gave me your trust. You let me be myself and accepted me for me. Sa management ng ABS-CBN, it will be 14 years. Thank you for letting me grow, thank you for believing in me.”

She also left a message to her “partner” Boy Abunda, who not only hosted The Buzz together with Kris for a decade, but has become Kris’s closest friend in showbiz. “Binigay mo na lahat ang buong tiwala mo, ‘yung buong pagkatao mo, all the love I could ever need… thank you for always being ready to defend me and understand me. You became Boy, I became Kris during this journey and the partnership we had siguro wala nang makaka-question, siguro we had one of the best marriages on television. I will miss this and I will miss you.”

She also gave a short message to the newest host of The Buzz, KC Concepcion. “The road ahead for you is so great.”

Kris also took pride in saying that she has been given the opportunity to bid farewell to her show while she’s on top of her game. “Ang konti-konti ng nandito sa industriya namin na nabibigyan ng pagkakataon na magpaalam na their show is still on top, they’re still considered a prized possession of the network. It’s a rare blessing and it was always what Mom prayed for me. Sabi ng Mom, ‘Kristina, sana hindi umabot sa point na malaos ka at sana nakapag-ipon ka na ng enough para kung anuman ang mangyari, okay kayo.’ So, Mom, everything happens siguro as part of God’s will and I accept that.”

Kris even managed to make a joke amidst an emotional moment. “Who knows, six years from now with science, baka maganda pa naman ako. At hindi pa ako kulubot baka pwede pang bumalik sa The Buzz. In life’s journey, this is one of the most fulfilling and the most educational, top-over and in the journey of life I will always be grateful that you allowed me to be part of your life,” she beamed.

Although she has not yet revealed what her next project or projects will be, reports claim that Kris will host a public service program together with Ted Failon or a noon-time game show.

Kim Chiu on Kris Aquino: 'Kaya niya kahit anong problema'

Kim Chiu shared that the continuing success of her showbiz career motivates her even more to work harder. “Masaya [at] ang sarap ng feeling [kasi] parang ang sarap magtrabaho nang magrabaho [dahil] nakaka-inspire lalo,” she beamed. With numerous projects and endorsements, the actress is just grateful for the outpour of opportunities and blessings. “Sobrangsa lahat ng nagtitiwala sa akin, sa lahat ng mga products na ine-endorse ko. Sobrang happy and thankful, sobrangMaraming-maraming salamat talaga,” she shared during the press conference of her latest endorsement, SM Development Corporation’s My Place.

She revealed that for this endorsement, Kim is entitled to a new condominium unit, which is within the area of ABS-CBN Compound. “’Pag sa ABS-CBN lang ako at kailangan kong maligo o magpahinga, punta lang ako dito kasi ang lapit lang. Mas convenient and mas madali at maganda siya for independent young people katulad ko.”

With the approaching finale of her teleserye, Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo (KTM), Kim’s next project will be a short series on Your Song Presents. However, she said that she will miss the cast of KTM, especially Kris Aquino with whom she became really close. “Sobrang mami-miss ko siya. Sobrang mami-miss ko ‘yung kwentuhan namin, tawanan, ‘yung lahat ng katsismisan namin. ‘Yung pa-kikay, pa-girl, shopping, ganyan-ganyan.”

Asked what advice from the Queen of All Media she will never forget, Kim answered, “Huwag daw akong masyadong magastos.”

Kim was quite reluctant though when prodded if Kris shared to her anything about her current marital problem.  “Hindi ko po alam…” she said, smiling.

But she is confident that whatever problem Kris is presently dealing with, Kim is confident that the actress-host can handle it. “Si Ate Kris strong person naman ‘yan, eh tsaka sobrang lakas ng tiwala niya sa sarili niya. So makakaya niya lahat kahit anong problema,” she explained.

Kim revealed that she and the entire cast of KTM will give their support to Kris’s family when her brother, Sen. Noynoy Aquino, will take his oath as the new president of the Philippines on June 30, Wednesday. “Andun kami so parang first time mangyayari and parang minsan lang mangyayari ito sa buhay namin,” she said.
thankful blessed.

james yap and kris aquino officially separated

 Kris Aquino-James Yap formally separated.

Kris Aquino: "My marriage to James is over"

MANILA, Philippines - This is a transcript of Kris Aquino's interview on "The Buzz," Sunday (June 27), where she disclosed that she has given up on her marriage to basketball star James Yap.
BOY ABUNDA: Krissy, maraming tanong, maraming opinyon, speculations. This is your chance. We will listen. What do you have to say?
KRIS AQUINO: First, I'm sorry about Tuesday [engagement in Cebu]. For so long, ilang buwan naman na nagampanan ko ang lahat ng tungkulin ko, lahat ng responsibilidad sa trabaho at sa kampanya kahit na mayroon kaming pinagdadaanan sa tahanan namin. It was a sign of weakness on my part not to show up, and I'm sorry about that. I'm sorry that you had to be the one to answer because you felt uncomfortable making up an excuse.
About what we've been through, I think naman Boy hindi lahat sikreto sa inyong lahat, kung ano ang mga napagdaanan namin in our married life. I think also the whole Philippines is fully aware na when my mom was alive and ngayon, my siblings have tried to bridge whatever gaps -- and I mean gaps, marami na kasi.
I have not sat down [with my siblings]...lahat through text -- kay ate, kay Pinky. Through phone, nakausap ko si Viel. Nagtext din kami ni Noy. Siyempre sila lahat, gusto nila sana maayos pa.
I just want to say na whatever decision I have come to, it's not a spur of the moment decision. Matagal naming sinubukan. James and I both tried to really make this work.
On my part, what I'm comfortable saying is, with finality I can say, ako sumuko na.
But there's no way of doing that.
Last night, mga 4 in the morning, hindi ako makatulog pa. Katabi ko si Baby James, and I think he had a bad dream kasi he started to cry in his sleep. And that's when it came to me, and I'm sure lahat ng mga nanay maiintindihan ako. Kung anuman ang dahilan why this marriage, on my part I'm saying, is over, the only person I will owe and explanation to, and the only person who can demand from me na bakit kayo naghiwalay, is my son.
And kagabi Boy, narealize ko, the worst thing I can do for Baby James is, when he's 7 or 8 years old and mahanap niya sa YouTube yung explanation kung bakit naghiwalay ang nanay at tatay niya. He deserves much more than that. He deserves to hear it only from me and only from James. Because in any separation, there are 2 sides to the story. And we owe it to him, James will owe it to him, that I will owe it to him to explain to him.
But I'm sure you will all understand me. My decision to keep quiet is not because on June 30 magiging presidente si Noy. My decision to keep quiet is because I asked myself 'Kapag inexplain ko kay Baby James, number one mauunawaan ba niya ako? Number 2, rerespetuhin pa ba niya ako? At number 3, mamahalin pa ba niya ako?' At nasagot ko naman kagabi na 'yes.' I know my son will understand me, will respect me and still love me. And I feel that he will love me more, respect me more, and value me more if I keep quiet today.
I know that will leave so many unanswered questions, but those questions, only Baby James deserves to hear the answers to. Siguro Boy, this is part of growing up. It's part of realizing that yes, I am public and I owe all of you an explanation, but apart from God, the only one I'm answerable to is kung di man mga kapatid ko eh ang anak ko.
Because I'm doing this for my son, because he's only 3 years old and he really doesn't deserve na kung ano yung trials na pinagdaanan ng parents niya, kailangang ungkat-ungkatin at ulit-ulitin, wag na.
Kung this will mean na maraming hindi makakaintindi sa akin or sasabihin, ijujudge ako, then let it be. I don't mind. The world can judge me. I just want my son to be able to respect me and respect his father. Because at the end of the day, ang utang namin sa kanya. To a certain extent, of course, it will affect Josh but it's really Baby James who will really be affected.
And maybe, yung sinasabi ng mom ko sa akin parati na 'Krissy, love is bringing out the best in each other.' Maybe Baby James is really bringing out the best in me. And that's it, Boy. I really hope they understand that this is for my son.
BOY: Naiintindihan ko. Maraming salamat, Krissy.
